All Natural Cleaning Ideas

If you've gone through our 21 Day Detox, or are planning on it, at some point you need to think about the cleaning agents you're using in the house. I started using Green Cleaning agents before our son was born so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites!

  • Distilled White Vinegar - loosens dirt, helps to disinfect, deodorizes, and can remove mineral deposits and stains. (Don't use Dark Vinegar, it will CAUSE stains.)
  • Baking Soda - deodorizes carpets & upholstery, mild abrasive, mix it with the distilled white vinegar and it helps with toilets and clogged drains.
  • Liquid Castile Soap - one of my favorites! Made from 100% vegetable oils, great all purpose cleaner, laundry and dish soap. You can even make a shampoo and hair rinse with the right ratio.
  • Lemon Juice - can be used for bleaching and disinfecting, it will stay fresh for up to 4 days. Always best to use REAL lemons and not the concentrate from a bottle.

All of these items also work out to be less expensive than commercial cleaning agents. Two of my favorite cleaning 'recipes' we use in our house:

Surface Cleaning Spray

  • 1c distilled white vinegar
  • 1c water
  • juice of 1/2 lemon

Mix everything together and place in a spray bottle. Works beautifully on all the shiny surfaces too!

Degreasing Spray

  • 1c distilled white vinegar
  • 2c water
  • 1 Tbsp Castile Soap

This works on the stove top, oven, microwave, and refrigerator (interior) to cut through any grease or baked on stickiness.

Some other great resources?

  • Norwex Microfiber Clothes remove up to 99% of bacteria from a surface when following proper use and care. I have several of these for all types of uses all over our house. I've even colored coded their use.
