Detox Lemon Cayenne Water

If you are looking to detox, then this one drink is a must for you! Keep reading to see 7 key benefits.

So good!

For many years we’ve heard nutritionist talk about super foods, detox drinks and special cleanses.  I thought it was just a bunch of hype until I began drinking the super food combo of lemon and cayenne pepper.

Directions:

Mix warm/hot water (6-8oz.) with ½ fresh squeezed lemon and cayenne pepper (start off with a little pinch and add more as tolerable).

7 Key "Detox" Benefits

1. Improves Digestion

Lemon contains large amounts of citric acid which is known to soften stool and improve bowel movements. Lemon and Cayenne are natural stimulants for the digestive system and balance out acidity (often helping to reduce heart burn or soothe an upset stomach). The combination of water with lemon helps the stomach secrete hydrochloric acid. When this is combined with the bile from the liver, it helps your body absorb essential nutrients from food. Better absorption of nutrients, softer stools and regular bowel movements help to prevent gas, a bloated stomach, and constipation.

2. Boosts energy

Lemons boost energy with negatively charged ions.  When these ions are digested, they provide energy without the need for caffeine and sugar.  Cayenne pepper improves thermogenesis, your body’s ability to turn heat into energy and burn body fat.

3. Fights cravings

With lemon’s natural ability to reduce the need for sugar and caffeine and cayenne’s ability to fuel/increase the metabolism, the cravings naturally disappear.

4. Stimulates liver

Not only does digestion improve in the intestines and stomach, but the powerful combination of lemon and cayenne help the liver improve detoxification of toxins in the body – especially sugar and alcohol.

5. Immunity Boost

Cayenne and lemon are both powerful allies in the fight against bacteria.  Lemons are full of vitamin C which boosts the immune system.  Cayenne, which includes capsaicin is known to kill off viruses and bacteria in the mouth, stomach and small intestine.  Together these two can soothe a sore throat and decongest your airways, perfect for the cold and flu season.

6. Healthy Skin

Pick up any natural product (see our favorites here) today and you will see it promoting all the benefits of vitamin C and its antioxidant / free racial fighting properties.  Drinking lemon and cayenne together helps improve the skin from the inside out.

7. Helps You Lose / Keep Off Weight

Losing weight and keeping it off is all about finding the right balance.  Drinking lemon/cayenne water first thing in the morning sets you up to feel energized, reduce cravings, poop regularly and need less caffeine and sugar.  All of which are habits we need to instill to live a healthier, leaner, longer life.
