Sugar Confession

Ok - so let’s get real and raw with all of you - I've got a sugar confession to make. And I am sure you can relate to this.

We - yes we, your nutrition coaches still struggle with those taboo foods, the ones we regularly help our clients remove.

Honesty...

And, I’m going to get really honest with you - I still love the way sugar tastes and when your mom and aunt come into town and make these home made - so gooey brownies - you have some. And then when you go out to dinner with your in-laws to celebrate a couple birthdays and their is home made warm from the oven cookies with vanilla ice cream - you have some. So yes, sugar confession time and a real like look at what it did.

I said ok to all of this as I knew I was kicking my own butt with a new workout plan and - a sugar detox on Monday (yep, who else does this). Now I knew I was gonna wake up the next day feeling - well yuck! I knew the scale would be up - hello sugar inflammation, and I knew my body would ache. But, what I didn’t expect was for these feelings of rage and depression.

About 3 years ago when we created our 21 day detox and then expanded it into our hormone solution program I knew sugar for me was a food that needed to be removed. If you’ve read my past blogs, you remember me feeling like a hypocrite for having it weekly and sometimes daily. What I am reminded any time I eat this much sugar is just how much it’s tied into my feelings of “Omg - I’m so mad ?” and the “I want to hide under a rock and cry”. Yes - anger and feeling helpless. So not just the scale but in real BIG emotions.

Triggers...

It really puts it all in perspective. Once you figure out what your trigger foods are, the ones that don’t support your goals, your hormones and your body’s overall balance you really need to decide just how much you will let food control your life!

So my sugar confession - it can still get the best of me, but I refuse to let it define me.

Do you feel like this too? Do you have a sugar confession, or maybe its a salt, wine or fast food one? If yes, and its making you feel ugh, then let’s chat! Finding which foods make you thrive and which make you want to literally beat the crap out of something (thank goodness for punching bags and hard workouts) is key for living a happy and healthier life!!!
