Podcast Episode 3: Post Show Recap

In episode 3, we recap the events of the Max Muscle Virginia NPC show. Corry and Stacia are a bit beat down, but they wanted to record and provide a little insight into what it’s like before, during, and after the event.
0:00 – Intro
1:11 – Corry ate the cupcake
1:23 – The day after the show is not when the ladies get their rest.
1:49 – Show Day starts the day after the last show
3:00 – Online Registration is the preferred method – mmvanpc.com
4:29 – Divisions vs. Classes
6:06 – Competitors need to have their NPC card to compete in these shows
7:14 – Putting all the info into an App instead of printed programs
7:47 – Online Registration stops about 48 hours before on-site registration
9:30 – What goes into the packets for the competitors?
11:15 – Additional events that the ladies host: So You Want to Compete events
11:29 – Posing Clinics by Gary Udit
11:48 – Show Preview is the Sunday before each of the shows
12:40 – The competitors also get backs of goodies from the sponsors
12:53 – There is sometimes trophy repair
13:10 – Thursday, the ladies are off. You can still reach the team through the show phone (571-232-0731)
14:00 – Text the show phone. That’s the best way to get a response.
14:14 – Friday: Check-in day – the venue is not magically transformed. There is serious work involved.
15:35 – Example activities: Check-in, buy NPC cards, weigh-ins, suit checks, registration, and more
15:55 – Backstage events: tanning, mic checks, video presentations, sponsor tables, banners, and more
17:44 – Who has the walkie talkies? Where are the EMT’s?
18:40 – Stacia and Corry host a dinner for the officials as a big thank you
19:24 – SHOW DAY! (and, man, it starts early!)
19:57 – Competitor meeting is an hour before the show starts
20:10 – Show make-up is not normal make-up
20:40 – The day starts with staff, volunteers, sponsors, crew, security, etc.
21:12 – Corry’s many many responsibilities up front while the show prep begins
21:34 – Stacia’s many many responsibilities backstage while the show prep continues
22:38 – Pre-Judging is the first half of the event.
23:34 – Corry handles production out front and Stacia runs the expediting team backstage
24:34 – There will be a new show next year, July’s Clash of the Titans
25:32 – The busiest part of Stacia’s day is in the morning
26:03 – Corry takes over in the evening
27:03 – The number of athletes is nowhere near the number of total entries
29:12 – A class can be re-judged
30:04 – Some of the events during the evening show
30:26 – The end of a show is seriously like a wedding. There are lots of pictures!
30:45 – Overall winners get their pictures on NPC News Online and in the magazine
31:34 – Was that tan butt?
32:16 – Nick’s PSA about food in the auditorium
33:05 – All of the tear down steps
33:21 – Don’t forget your trophies!
33:45 – And THEN there’s an after party
35:05 – There is no rest the day after the show!
36:00 – Five hours of accounting does not count as a day off
37:00 – Unloading everything back into storage
37:35 – And it doesn’t end there…
