NYC

NYC…

This week we thought we’d do something a little bit different…instead of our usual information based blog, we decided to get real, up front and honest with you all about traveling, our trip to NYC and a new book that we’re excited to dive into…ok, Corry is a little over half way through and Stacia practically just opened the book and finished it since she reads that fast.

Even though we travel a lot I always get anxiety about eating on the go, what to bring and if I’ll be able to get a workout in.  All of these things keep me sane when traveling.  While it might now always work out perfectly, there are a few things that help.

  • I always pack my supplements and bring them.
  • I look for a hotel with a gym.
  • I bring my running/walking shoes (I wasn’t going to miss walking outside on the East Coast is the gorgeous fall air).
  • I choose healthy proteins and fats, and limit the amount of carbs I eat – unless of course its one of my designated cheat meals.  And that….um, we very much enjoyed some authentic queso.

But as you will see from the photos, we choose healthy…and why do we share this?  Because we want you do know that you can do it too.

So…NYC?  We went to the Official Book Launch of Marie Forleo’s new book “Everything is Figureoutable”.  Stacia and I both love the woman – her business mindset and advice is always spot on.

We thought we’d share a few really great thoughts from the book:

  • “Just because the idea is simple doesn’t mean the road ahead is easy.  You’ll need humility and courage.  Self-compassion.  A willingness to experiment.  A sense of humor.  And patience.  Lots and lots of patience” – we couldn’t agree with this more, and what we tell all our clients working on their wellness in order to reach their goals.
  • Marie goes on in the book to detail that you really can get anything you want…but you first must know what it is.  A few of the steps include:
  • The magic of belief
  • Eliminating excuses – see her chapter on I can’t vs. I won’t
  • Face your fears
  • Define your dream – you will never reach it, if you are all over the place – it has to be clearly defined.  Example for our clients: I want to lose weight isn’t the same as I’d like to lose 10 pounds over the next 3 months so that I feel better in my clothes, can enjoy time with my kids and want to be seen in photos with my family.  Clearly knowing what you want is key.
  • And I love her “Progress Not Perfection” mindset.

So our take away – if you’d like a great book, and you need a little help chasing your big dream…pick up a copy and read it.
